MCEP Getting Started

Questions to ask yourself before you apply to MCEP

  • Have I carefully and realistically considered my schedule to make sure that I am able to commit to a weekly volunteer time for a minimum of one year and 140 hours?
  • Am I comfortable in a clinical environment where I will see adults who are sick or in pain and families under stress?
  • Will I be able to treat my commitment to volunteer similarly to the seriousness with which I treat work or school obligations?
  • Am I comfortable submitting personal (professional and/or academic) references and having a background check?
  • Am I willing and able to maintain professional boundaries with patients and families?

1) MCEP Application Process

Please be sure to send in all application materials at least one month prior to the orientation, unless otherwise stated. The online application will be deactivated as of 12:00pm on the deadline date for the orientation. Incomplete applications and requests received after the deadline will not be considered.

  1. Complete Online MCEP Application
  2. Two references (professional or academic) *Please note these Reference forms ONLY will be accepted
  3. Quick Registration Form
  4. Visa Information and documents, if applicable (1-20)
  5. Immunization Records & Recent TB test (plant and received within last 90 days) (Volunteer Medical Screening Form must be completed by your physician; please view both pages of the form for further instructions on health screening requirements)

If your application is accepted you will be contacted via email with information regarding Orientation.

2) Attending MCEP Orientation

  1. Please be sure to only attend if you have received an email that you were accepted into the program.
  2. Please be sure to be punctual to Orientation; if you are late you will not be permitted to stay
  3. Bring U.S government issued photo ID or a foreign passport
  4. CORI Request Form

3). Receive clearance from BWH Occupational Health (OSSVS will facilitate this process)

4). Receive BWH ID Badge and Get Started (OSSVS will facilitate this process)
