The Center for Weight Management and Metabolic Surgery is comprised of a multidisciplinary team that dedicates itself to the optimal management of the needs for those who are seeking help with obesity and weight loss along with their related co-morbidities.  We eliminate the traditional barriers and inefficiencies that patients face when receiving care by multiple specialists by incorporating multiple facets of weight loss tools.

Our center gives patients access to specialists in obesity medicine, bariatric surgerynutritioncardiologysleep medicine, and endocrinology.

The Brigham and Women’s Hospital Center for Weight Management and Metabolic Surgery (CWMMS) is dedicated to helping our patients develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle by improving and preventing the medical conditions associated with excess weight.

Our Center’s collaborative and diverse team of specialists offers the full spectrum of weight loss options:

  • Medical options, including lifestyle changes and FDA-approved weight loss medications
  • Minimally invasive surgical options, including Laparoscopic Roux-En-Y Gastric Bypass, Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Band (LAPBAND®), or Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy

The specialists at CWMMS also are actively researching new, innovative treatments for weight loss.

We are committed to the long-term care of our patients and are dedicated to ensuring they achieve and maintain a healthy and improved quality of life.

Your BMI must be 30.0 or above in order to be seen by one of our clinicians.

Helping You Make the Right Choice

There are many available strategies to promote weight loss and improve health. Our Center helps patients navigate these choices to find the method(s) that would be most effective for each individual.

Each patient who comes to our Center is evaluated by both a physician and a dietitian who specialize in weight loss and health management. During this evaluation, our specialists explain the benefits and risks of each available treatment option and help the patient chose the treatment option that best fits their needs. Our focus is on individualized treatment for improved health and long-term success.

Patient Gateway is a secure online portal that allows patients to communicate with their primary care and specialty care practices.

Patient Gateway allows patients to look at their chart information, including their medication lists, allergies, cholesterol levels and as many as 50 different lab results. It allows patients to request a renewal of refillable prescriptions and allows for easy appointment management.
