These resources teach patients about their weight loss options, prepare them for life after their procedure, and provide both pre- and post-procedure education. Contact the team if you have any questions.

Bariatric Forum Support Group

This group is currently offered online through Zoom. Our 2021 schedule can be found here. The Bariatric Forum brings patients together to share experiences and provide support for each other. We discuss a different topic, such as plastic surgery, holiday eating, and body image, and more. You'll also have the chance to meet other patients as well as members of our team.

Post-operative Behavioral Support Groups

Our bariatric psychologists, Dr. Paul Davidson and Dr. Mark Gorman lead several post-operative support groups. All patients will attend a group 6-8 weeks after surgery.

Additionally, Dr. Davidson and Dr. Gorman lead online groups designed for patients who are further out from surgery and are looking for extra support in a small group setting. Learn more about this Post-operative Behavioral Support Group.

You will meet with a registered dietitian several times before and after surgery. Our team of dietitians specializes in bariatric nutrition and is available to support you in person, over the phone, and through Patient Gateway. The dietitian phone line is open during office hours at 617-732-8884.

Pre-Operative Diet

All patients will start a pre-operative diet (English Version and Spanish Version) two weeks before surgery. If you have diabetes and take oral medications and/or insulin, you may need to use the pre-operative diet for patients with diabetes (English Version and Spanish Version).
