The Lung Center

Women’s Lung Health Program

Women and men experience many common lung disorders differently. The Women’s Lung Health Program at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) Lung Center is an innovative, multidisciplinary collaboration between physicians, surgeons and healthcare providers who treat and study lung disease in women.

We provide comprehensive and tailored disease management to address the specific needs of female patients who have lung disease. Our areas of interest include asthma, chronic lung infections, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), dyspnea, pulmonary genetics, lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM), lung cancer, respiratory disorders during pregnancy, pulmonary hypertension and vocal cord dysfunction.

We draw on the significant expertise in women’s health and sex- and gender-based research at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and bring together a community of expert pulmonologists, thoracic surgeons, infectious disease physicians, geneticists and scientists.

Officially launched in 2013, the Women’s Lung Health Program is a collaboration between The Lung Center and the Mary Horrigan Connors Center for Women’s Health and Gender Biology. Our program is a reflection of the commitment of Brigham and Women’s Hospital to excellence in providing gender-specific care and the study of sex differences in disease.
