Evidence-Informed & Theory Guided Care

The best clinical questions arise from the point of care between patients and the clinical nurses and interprofessional team who surround them. Our professional obligation as BWH nurses is to stay informed regarding the evolving state of the science and to consistently infuse our practice with emerging science. At the same time, we are obliged to inform our professional communities about our learning at BWH. In these ways, we refine our skills to both study and pull new evidence into our practice, advancing the state of the science that includes caring.

Guided by Watson’s Theory of Caring Science and Caritas processes, the nurse-patient relationship serves as our guidepost to humanizing the patient experience. Our programs encourage practicing nurses to engage in scholarly activities with the goal of ultimately adding to the scientific, evidence-informed foundations of nursing practice.
