Patricia A. Chin Nursing SIM Lab

In 2023, the Department of Nursing received a $5 million gift from the Chin Family Foundation to develop a nursing simulation lab in support of education, professional development and lifelong learning.

In collaboration with the Center for Nursing Excellence and the Neil and Elise Wallace STRATUS Center for Medical Simulation, the Patricia A. Chin Nursing SIM Lab will provide innovative programming and technologies to advance nursing practice at all stages of professional development and align with a rapidly evolving acute healthcare environment, enabling us to deliver the highest quality care to patients for generations to come.

The gift will be used to expand the existing space and resources at the Brigham’s STRATUS Center with the addition of two nursing-focused, high-fidelity simulation rooms and a multi-purpose conference room and debriefing room. The funds will also cover simulation equipment, supplies and trainers.

With these resources, we will be able to tailor training and education to different nurse specialty roles, expand continuing education for experienced nurses and map out a long-term education plan.

The nursing community is deeply grateful for Bill and Pat Chin’s generosity and vision with this gift, which will enhance the professional development and experience of our staff and impact the care we provide to patients now and into the future.
