The Brigham and Women's Hospital Department of Pediatric Newborn Medicine encompasses faculty who assist in the care of newborn infants at Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH) and Newton-Wellesley Hospital (NWH). BWH is the largest delivering hospital, with approximately 6,000 births each year and provides specialized care to the most high-risk pregnancies. In addition, Brigham and Women's Hospital houses the region's largest newborn intensive care unit with more than 60 beds for the smallest and sickest infants requiring care for preterm or any other complex birth-related issue. Brigham and Women's Hospital also serves as the academic and educational hub for departmental activities, including many groundbreaking research studies.

Dr. Inder is a dual-boarded neonatologist and child neurologist and is the Chair of the Department of Pediatric Newborn Medicine. She has a passion for improving long-term outcomes of high-risk infants including premature infants and at-risk term born infants.

Dr. Abdulhayoglu is the medical director of the Brigham and Women's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Her clinical interests are improving neonatal care with an emphasis on health communication, ELBW infants, policy and protocol development, medical coding and billing as well as delivery room and ICU management of complex care babies.

Dr. Belfort provides neonatal intensive care as a member of the Brigham and Women's Hospital core group of neonatologists and serves as a leader of the clinical nutrition working group. Medical Director of Newborn Respiratory Care
Dr. Cataltepe is a staff neonatologist and Medical Director of Newborn Respiratory Care. She is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. Her research studies focus on pulmonary biology and immunology investigating the molecular mechanisms of chronic lung disease of prematurity and pulmonary infections. She has received funding from American Heart Association and NIH.

Dr. Monthé-Drèze is an attending neonatologist in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at BWH and an Instructor in Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. In addition to caring for neonates in the NICU, Dr. Monthé-Drèze also does research on the effects of maternal obesity on infant outcomes. She conducts clinical and translational research pertaining to the effects of maternal obesity-related inflammation, nutritional deficiencies, and oxidative stress on offspring neural pathways and neurodevelopment.
