The Brigham and Women's Hospital Department of Pediatrics encompasses faculty who assist in the care of newborn infants at Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH) and Newton-Wellesley Hospital (NWH). BWH is the largest delivering hospital, with approximately 6,000 births each year and provides specialized care to the most high-risk pregnancies. In addition, Brigham and Women's Hospital houses the region's largest newborn intensive care unit with more than 60 beds for the smallest and sickest infants requiring care for preterm or any other complex birth-related issue. Brigham and Women's Hospital also serves as the academic and educational hub for departmental activities, including many groundbreaking research studies.
