CMBS Program Events

Brigham and Women's Center for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (CMBS) offers a variety of educational and support groups for patients and their families. These groups teach patients about surgical options and prepare them for life after surgery, and provide support both pre- and post-surgery. Contact the CMBS team if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing you!

Information Sessions

Learn about the types of bariatric surgery that we offer, the types of appointments you’ll have with our team, how your diet and lifestyle will need to change, and how to get approved by your insurance company. Our surgeons, dietitians, and administrative support team will be on hand to answer any questions you may have. Learn more about bariatric surgery information sessions.

Bariatric Forum

This group is currently offered online through Zoom. Ask a provider to join our facebook page or be on our email list to get the latest updates. The Bariatric Forum brings patients together to share experiences and provide support for each other. We discuss a different topic, such as plastic surgery, holiday eating, and body image, and more. You’ll also have the chance to meet other patients as well as members of our team.

Post-operative Behavioral Support Groups

Our bariatric psychologists, Dr. Paul Davidson and Dr. Mark Gorman lead several post-operative support groups. All patients will attend a group 6-8 weeks after surgery.

Additionally, Dr. Davidson and Dr. Gorman lead online groups designed for patients who are further out from surgery and are looking for extra support in a small group setting. Learn more about this Post-operative Behavioral Support Group.
