Unpaid student interns are students who do not yet have the requisite skills to function as BWH employees in their chosen field and are at BWH to gain experience and develop relevant skills in healthcare administration or clinical care. Unpaid interns are not involved in a BWH research role.
Student interns may choose to intern at BWH because they are required to have a minimum number of clinical hours for a degree or training program. Other students have chosen to intern strictly for personal development. All student interns must complete the BWHC New Employee Orientation (Sponsored Staff) module in HealthStream, submit to the HireRight background check and be cleared through Occupational Health Services prior to obtaining a hospital id badge. In cases where the internship does not satisfy a course requirement, departments need to develop a Student Intern Curriculum for their intern.
