The goal of Ambulatory Orientation is to ensure the success of nurses and medical assistants into ambulatory practice as members of an interdisciplinary team at BWH. This provides a forum to enhance familiarization to the clinical resources and systems, policies and documentation that supports clinical practice at BWH. Furthermore, ambulatory orientation uses evidence-based and innovative teaching strategies to introduce patient safety technology and simulated clinical environments to facilitate the unit based experience.
An overview of the vision, mission, values and goals, the objectives of competency validation session for employees facilitates the knowledge of professional practice, patient and employee resources, employee education and all advanced patient safety technology systems.
Ambulatory Nursing & Medical Assistant Orientation Dates FY19-FY20
The dates below are from July 2019 through September 2020.
The first two days of orientation will be facilitated by the Center for Nursing Excellence, and will be held at One Brigham Circle, 4th floor, in the Center for Nursing Excellence from 8:00 am-4:30 pm. The second two days will consist of PeC Training (time and location will be confirmed the first day of orientation for each new hire). PeC Training will be held subsequent to Ambulatory Orientation. Medical Assistants will attend PeC Training on the third day. Nurses will attend PeC Training on the third and fourth days.
