NICHE Geriatric Resource Nurse Education
BWH is pleased to provide Geriatric Resource Nurse (GRN) training on a monthly basis in the Center for Nursing Excellence. The training prepares staff nurses as the clinical resource person on geriatric issues to other nurses on their unit. GRNs are trained by advanced practice nurses to identify and address specific geriatric syndromes such as falls and confusion, and to implement care strategies that discourage the use of restrictive devices and promote patient mobility. The GRN training is a great first step on the way to gerontological nursing certification.
- Trainings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 4:00-6:00PM through May, 2016
- Location: Center for Nursing Excellence, One Brigham Circle 4th Floor Suite 6
The education consists of online modules that provide 20 contact hours for free. The modules can be completed at home or at the monthly sessions.. You may attend one or all sessions and/or finish the modules at home. To register for the course, email Susan Lee, PhD, RN, CNP. Participants must be registered ahead of time to gain access to the website. Registration can only be done through Susan Lee and can take up to a week to be processed with NICHE. Once registered, all NICHE courses are available to BWH nurses. Remember...2016 is the RN license year so this is a great way to learn more about our geriatric patients and to get contact hours.
