About the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

The Brigham Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) supports the organization’s work to increase diversity at all levels, create and sustain a culture of respect and belonging, and identify and eliminate inequities for patients and employees.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion comprise one of the pillars of Brigham Culture. This means that we proactively promote and address equity in alignment with Brigham Values. We have the courage to talk about differences, the willingness to lead, learn and to be uncomfortable. When we do, we achieve better outcomes for our employees and patients.

Meet the Members of the DEI team.

Brigham and Women's Hospital initiatives supported by the DEI Office include:

  • Employee Resource Groups (ERG).
  • Increased hiring, retention, and promotion of underrepresented minorities across the organization.
  • Leadership Development — assuring that core DEI principles, knowledge, and skills are embedded across Brigham’s Leadership Development curricula, rolling out in March 2020.
  • High Reliability framework for incorporating Equity into Quality and Patient Safety.
  • Development of competencies that will enhance diversity and inclusion at Brigham – supporting Organizational Learning and Development to assure all Brigham employees have access to high quality, effective training around the skills and knowledge that are critical to valuing and working across differences.
