Before & After Endoscopic Weight Loss Procedures

Before an Endoscopic Weight Loss Procedure

To ensure that you are fully informed and that all of your questions are answered, you will have the following appointments prior to your endoscopic weight loss procedure. During these appointments, a number of important topics will be covered, including details about our available endoscopic weight loss procedures, insurance coverage and pre and post-procedural care.

  • A patient information session. This is held virtually on every fourth Tuesdays of the month at 7 pm EST
  • 1 appointment with a bariatric endoscopist to discuss your medical history and endoscopic weight loss procedure options
  • 1 appointment with a bariatric dietitian to discuss pre and post-op nutritional plans, as well as long-term nutritional strategies for success
  • 1 appointment with a bariatric psychologist (optional) to review psychological barriers to weight loss, as well as long-term strategies for success

After an Endoscopic Weight Loss Procedure

The weight loss journey is a lifelong commitment to a healthy lifestyle. Therefore, we believe in the importance of close and long-term follow-up after your endoscopic weight loss procedure. Here is an example of your appointments after your endoscopic weight loss procedure:

  • 1 day: Meet with bariatric endoscopist or physician assistant
  • 2 weeks: Meet with bariatric dietitian (small group)
  • 6 weeks: Meet with bariatric endoscopist or physician assistant
  • 3 months: Meet with bariatric endoscopist or physician assistant, and dietitian
  • 6 months: Meet with bariatric endoscopist or physician assistant, and dietitian
  • 9 months: Meet with bariatric endoscopist or physician assistant, and dietitian
  • 12 months: Meet with bariatric endoscopist or physician assistant, and dietitian
  • After 1 year, meet with bariatric endoscopist or physician assistant, and dietitian every 6 months
